At Woodland Star International School, we are committed to nurturing lifelong learners who grow both academically and personally. A key part of this journey is understanding each student’s progress and providing personalized support to help them thrive. One way we measure student growth is through the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessments, developed by the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA), a globally recognized organization specializing in educational assessments.
What is the MAP Assessment?
MAP is a computer-adaptive assessment that evaluates a student’s growth and achievement across a wide range of subjects, including math, reading, language arts, and science. Unlike standardized tests, it adjusts in real-time based on a student’s responses, offering a precise measure of their current abilities. The data-driven insights from MAP enable educators to personalize learning and track progress over time.
Outstanding Performance Among Woodland Star’s Secondary Years Learners
Our Secondary Years learners have excelled in their MAP assessments, particularly in math:
- 88% rank in the top 10% of high school students globally.
- 60% rank in the top 5% worldwide.
- 38% are in the top 1% globally.
These results highlight the strength of our learner-centered approach, where students are encouraged to think critically, engage deeply, and apply their knowledge in meaningful ways.

A Commitment to Academic Growth
At Woodland Star, we celebrate both achievement and progress. MAP assessments provide valuable insights that guide our educators in refining teaching strategies and fostering an environment where every student is challenged at the right level.
We are incredibly proud of our students’ progress and remain dedicated to supporting their academic and personal growth through innovative teaching, personalized learning, and a strong community of support.
