Woodland Star community is a group of parents, staff, and students who share a common goal of creating a vibrant and welcoming learning environment. In order to achieve this goal, the community has created a set of guiding principles known as the “Village Agreements.” These agreements outline how members of the community should interact with one another and the environment in which they live and work.

Our guiding principles:

To value and care for our community and environment.

This means that members of the community are expected to respect and take care of one another, as well as the natural surroundings in which they live. This includes the physical environment, as well as the emotional and social aspects of the community.

To approach every situation with a growth mindset.

This means that members of the community are expected to be open to learning and willing to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. A growth mindset encourages curiosity, perseverance, and resilience, which are all essential skills for success in life.

To show kindness and respect in word and action.

This means that members of the community are expected to treat one another with respect, regardless of differences in opinions or backgrounds. Kindness is also encouraged as a way to build positive relationships within the community.

To encourage one another to dream, create and innovate.

This means that members of the community are expected to inspire and motivate one another to explore their passions and pursue their goals. Creativity and innovation are highly valued as ways to solve problems and create new possibilities.

To celebrate the worth of each individual and their story.

This means that members of the community are expected to honor and respect the unique qualities and experiences that each person brings to the community. Celebrating diversity is essential to creating an inclusive and welcoming community.

To talk and listen to each other readily and
openly.

This means that members of the community are expected to communicate effectively and actively listen to one another. Communication is an essential skill for building positive relationships and resolving conflicts.

To consider every idea for 5 minutes.

This means that members of the community are expected to give each other’s ideas a fair chance by considering them for at least five minutes. This encourages open-mindedness and collaboration, which are essential for creating a vibrant and thriving community.

To honor each other’s time & work.

This means that members of the community are expected to value and respect each other’s time and efforts. This includes being punctual, meeting deadlines, and acknowledging the contributions of others.
