Secondary Years Co Teacher
At Woodland Star International School, Secondary Years Co-Teachers play a vital role in creating inclusive, responsive learning environments where learners are seen, challenged, and supported to thrive. Working in close partnership with subject teachers, this role strengthens access to learning for all students through thoughtful adaptation, shared planning, and collaborative teaching practice. With particular expertise in Humanities, Literacy, and Kenyan Sign Language, the Co-Teacher supports learners to develop critical thinking, conceptual understanding, and communication skills within a structured yet creative learning environment.
Grounded in our commitment to inclusion, diversity, and learner agency, this role supports students to be self-directed, belong in community, and become globally mindful. The Co-Teacher contributes to a culture of curiosity, reflection, and continuous growth while ensuring that every learner can meaningfully participate in the curriculum regardless of learning differences.

Reflective, collaborative educators with strong expertise in inclusive education, curriculum differentiation, Humanities and Literacy instruction, and Kenyan Sign Language. Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or Bachelor of Education with Certification in Special Needs Education
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience in an inclusive or special education setting
- Demonstrated experience in Humanities, Literacy, and Kenyan Sign Language instruction
- Valid TSC Number for Kenyan applicants
- Strong understanding of inclusive education practices and learner support strategies

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead teacher for Kenyan Sign Language classes across the high school, including planning, teaching, and assessment
- Collaborate with subject teachers to co-plan, co-deliver, and co-assess lessons aligned to curriculum goals and inclusive education principles
- Adapt and differentiate learning materials and instructional strategies to meet diverse learner needs
- Support the development of conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Implement mastery-based learning and assessment approaches to ensure all learners can engage meaningfully
- Act as a case manager for individual learning plans or support updates with the designated case manager
- Monitor, document, and communicate learner progress with teachers, families, and the learning support team
- Provide targeted small group or individual support during lessons where needed
- Contribute to a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environment that fosters curiosity and independence
- Participate in professional learning, collaborative planning, and whole school initiatives

Middle Years Co-teacher
The Middle Years Co-Teacher will work collaboratively within the Middle Years programme to ensure all learners can access, engage with, and excel in the curriculum. This role supports Woodland Star’s inclusive education model through co-teaching, differentiated instruction, and targeted learner support, fostering inquiry, critical thinking, and conceptual understanding within a supportive classroom environment.
Ideal Candidates:
Collaborative, reflective, and adaptable educators who are passionate about inclusive, learner-centred education and thrive in co-teaching environments. Candidates should value inquiry, creativity, continuous learning, and meaningful collaboration within a diverse school community.
Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or Bachelor of Education with Special Needs certification.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in an inclusive or special education setting.
- Valid TSC registration (mandatory).
- Strong understanding of inclusive education practices, curriculum differentiation, and learner support strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Clear alignment with Woodland Star’s mission, vision, and values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with Homeroom teachers to co-plan, co-deliver, and co-assess lessons aligned with curriculum objectives and inclusive education principles.
- Differentiate instructional materials and strategies to meet diverse learner needs.
- Support learners in building knowledge, problem-solving skills, and conceptual understanding aligned with Common Core Standards.
- Implement mastery-based teaching, learning, and reporting strategies to ensure meaningful participation for all learners.
- Serve as case manager for ILPs or support documentation updates alongside the case manager.
