Forest2Forest MTB Challenge — 35km Ages 12+

Ride 35 kilometres from the towering canopy of Kereita Forest to the lush tea fields of Tigoni. Along the way, you’ll experience flowing singletrack, forest roads, open ridgelines with views across the Rift’s shoulder, and kilometre after kilometre of Kenya’s beautiful highland countryside.

Saturday, 5 September 2026 — a timed, family-friendly MTB event designed for riders who want to challenge themselves, enjoy the outdoors, and finish the day together at Brackenhurst.

The Course

The ride begins at 2,480m on the southern edge of the Aberdare range, where the air is cool and the cedar and bamboo forest of Kereita closes in around the trail. The opening kilometres wind through indigenous forest — expect birdsong, dappled light, and the occasional colobus monkey watching you pass.

From the forest, the route breaks out into open farmland and rolling ridges, trending steadily downhill toward Limuru. This is the fast, fun heart of the course: swooping descents, punchy little climbs to keep you honest, and long views over the highlands on a clear morning.

The final stretch delivers you into Tigoni’s famous tea country — a landscape of manicured green that looks almost painted. You’ll thread between the estates on quiet tracks and estate roads before rolling into the finish at Brackenhurst, where its gardens, hot food, and cold drinks await.

Tigoni Kids Challenge

(4km/8km) – the Forest2Forest MTB event is designed for families, and our junior races give young riders a real taste of cross-country racing on a course built just for them — safe, fun, and genuinely exciting.

Tigoni Charge – Up to 8 Years Old

(4 km) – One full lap of the circuit for our youngest racers. Every finisher gets a medal, and every rider gets a cheer. No experience needed — if your child can ride confidently off tarmac, they’ll have a brilliant time. Marshals are stationed around the course, and a sweep rider follows the last racer home, so no one is ever out there alone.

Tigoni charge - 4 km

Tigoni Challenge — 12 Years Old

Two laps (8km) – Two laps of the circuit for older kids ready for a bigger test. Riders will need to pace themselves, pick their lines, and dig in on the second lap. Perfect preparation for the main course in years to come.

Tigoni Challlange - 8 km

The Course

Both junior races run on a dedicated 4km circuit through the beautiful grounds and trails around Brackenhurst. It’s a proper mountain bike course for kids: winding trails, gentle climbs, fun descents, and plenty of places for family to cheer riders on. The start and finish are in the same place, so parents can watch the action from one spot.
